Abstract
In Japan, PV as renewable energy source (RES)
is expanding rapidly. However, if the PV penetration becomes too large,
the regulation capability for maintaining the system frequency will be
insufficient. Where such a problem arises, cross-area system operation
that uses regulation capability of other systems through interconnection
lines is being studied. This paper proposes the method of maintaining
regulation capability by pumped-storage hydro in other electric power
systems through changing the base tie line power flow.
