Abstract
Distribution systems are affected by faults
that may lead to service interruption, which is inconvenient for the con-sumers
and increases the refund costs payed by the company. Op-timizing the allocation
of fault indicators devices (FIs) is a prom-ising alternative to improve
the energy quality. Using FIs reduce the team`s average displacement time
to the fault(s) location, which implies reduction on the Equivalent Interruption
Duration per Consumer Unit (DEC) indicator. Since the indiscriminate use
of FIs is prohibitive, this paper presents the implementation of the metaheuristic
routine Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) to determinate optimized locations
to install the FIs, aiming DEC reduction. The results, collected from
a real feeder, confirm the proposed methodology`s efficiency.
