Abstract
This paper focuses on the most relevant aspects
on the energy generation and storage technologies integration into electrical
microgrids (MGs) structures. In this sense, the most important characteristics
associated with electric generation resources proposed for this type of
grids are reviewed. Additionally, energy storage technologies are analysed
for the most appropriate integration into MGs. Finally, the manuscript
reviews the most outstanding MGs developed around the world that include
the integration of the most advanced generation and storage technologies.
